The most gorgeous homes in my opinion are in the 14610 area code near East Avenue, but in terms of best suburb I would go for Pittsford/Bushnell's Basin area near the Erie Canal. I grew up in Penfield and while the schools are very good, there is nothing interesting about the town and no village like you have in Pittsford. I also agree that the homes in Brighton are beautiful and love the closeness of the homes and small properties which gives it a nice homey feel and close knit neighborhood. Do not like Fairport - nice town, but the schools and parents are a bit nuts and over competitive with sports, etc. Also check out Webster off 250 North - there are some nice homes around there and not as expensive as Pittsford.
