Hi

I read the previous threads about the 19th ward. As far as I understand, as long as you don't venture much north of Brooks you are fine. I am looking at a place that is on Thurston and Brooks. Is that a bad area? Ghetto people?

Also, what will be the rent for a 1 bed over there?

Thanks!

hi hi!
I used to live in the 19th ward. I lived one block north of Brooks, on Millbank rd. - alot closer to Genessee than Thurston. It was alot of fun there, and only had one break-in....but nothing really bad happened.

If I were you, I would definitely recommend the 19th ward, but stay east. Try to be near the river where the UofR students are spilling over, and farther from Thurston. Also, stay near brooks/genessee park blvd, and far south of Arnett.

When I lived there, I was an RIT student, renting a house with 3 other guys. The rent was $212/mo per person....so the whole house went for $850. If you get a one bedroom, I would expect to pay $350-400? But I don't recommend living alone there. It isn't 100% safe. But it is fun, and just be smart on the street.
