I see from your posts that you are considering Miami.

Real estate is relatively cheap all over Florida lately - but you might want to check out the Ft Myers/Lehigh Acres area, as homes there are ridiculously cheap.

If you want to be on the East Coast, check out the Space Coast area (Melbourne, Cap Canaveral etc.). I like that area because it's not as subject to the traffic jams, crime and congestion of the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale areas, and home prices are reasonable.

You seem like the type that can handle the heat and humidity down there, so I sincerely wish you luck.

Canandaigua is definitely a great option. If you want to be right in Rochester then the Pittsford area is top notch and has a lot of the housing options that you would be looking for.
