/cottages/lake houses/etc more in the Finger Lakes, Thousand Islands or the Adirondacks?

You would think that the finger lakes being closer, more people would own a second property there, but from talking to people, it seems to be more split between the three regions.

I feel like most of the people I know who own second homes (including my family members and formerly my parents) own cottages on Lake Ontario in either Orleans or Wayne County. I find this funny because they are so close, and living in Greece or really any Rochester suburb puts you no more than 30 minutes from the lakeshore anyways, but I think people like being able to just have their boats docked on their own property and have family and friend gatherings and stuff like that
