Are you sure you have been there before? While there are not many cars there, there is pretty much one road in and out of the town. I remember visiting a friend who loves hanging out by the dock where all the restaurants are.

Yes and the OP's BF can take Lake Road to Maple Ave. Maple Ave takes him to Route 104, going west into Ontario. So, there are other ways to get to Ontario from Sodus Point.

Or it just the way the OP's BF would go to work.

Good luck!!
Nice catch! I have also never met anyone Jewish who lived in Rush-Henrietta . Brighton has the most Jewish population.

Like I posted before, Rush-Henrietta actually offers transportation to and from the JCC for before and after school care. You can live in Brighton, but be in the Rush-Henrietta SD. There is a temple in Henrietta. With this said, it is moot considering where the job is located and that the OP is open to other areas.

We'll get married eventually. I want to go to grad school first Right now, I won't be working! I will try to find a job once I get up there. I just want to know that wherever I live, it would be ok to have a menorah in my window without weird looks!!

I don't think it would be an issue, but I'd say to visit the area first just to make sure if you get a good feeling for the community.

P.S.-the JCC is also in the Rush-Henrietta SD: New York schools - NY elementary, middle and high school information

I have never even been to Sodus so I cant really comment specifically on that area. But, I have lived all over the world and in places where they have never met a Jew before

If you have never lived before in a place where there are no jews it can be disconcerting....I have a feeling that you would get a lot of strange looks in sodus and most people would have no idea what a menorah is....this may or may not bother you...do your research and know what you are comfortable with.

Coutrysong, I'd stick with Brighton, Pittsford, Fairport and Palmyra. They are beautiful areas with short drives to get downtown and experience what the city has to offer. It's a small city, but there are lots to do and see.
