Perhaps I will ask more about the city on the Albany forum. Thanks!

I'd throw Syracuse into the mix too, because of its central location... it's not too far from anything in NYS.

True and I even thought about the Utica-Rome area, as it isn't too far from the Adirondacks. It is centrally located and with Nanotech coming to the area, the OP may find employment in that area. I believe that there are some other companies in the area that may work as well. There is a church in that area that comes to mind, that I think may work for the OP too: Redeemer Church - Welcomes You in Albany, Utica & Rome, NY

Hello there,

I echo the sentiments of previous posters that as long as you are open to climate change you should be just fine. I know plenty of green hipsters here, many of which attend my Church, Grace Road (http://www.graceroadchurch.org/). You basically described the atmosphere of Grace Road ("authentic people with a laid back attitude") which is what I love about it.

As for coffee and music, you are all set. Others have provided wonderful recommendations of places to visit.

Best wishes!

If interested, OP, look into Lockheed Martin, JMA Wireless, Inficon, Marquardt Switches, Eaton, Ephesus, Saab/Sensis and even Byrne Dairy, Cryomech and ENSCO, among maybe a few other companies.

Some other companies in Upstate NY that come to mind are Corning Inc., Remington, Alion Science and Technology, United Technologies(inc. Aerospace in Rome), NY Air Brake, BAE Systems, Raymond Corporation, Amphenol, i3 electronics, Harris Corporation, Delphi, General Electric, Owens Corning, Bettis Atomic Power Lab, Regeneron, Praxair, Moog and many more.
