This is pretty cool. The Strathallan and Eastman House Dryden theatre have been selected to host the first advance screening of the new James Bond movie:

The Strathallan is excited to announce it has been selected to host the North American premiere of the new, highly-anticipated James Bond film on November 3. Spectre, the twenty-fourth in the James Bond series, is not scheduled to open publicly in theaters until November 6.

“This will be Bollinger’s first and largest premiere of the film in the country,” said Joshua Miles, Food and Beverage Operator of the Strathallan Hotel. “We are thrilled to have been chosen to host the event and to provide guests an experience they will not soon forget.”

Bollinger Champagne, a brand that has become synonymous with James Bond, holds events in large markets to celebrate the release of a new Bond film. This year, Rochester year will join New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Los Angeles, Washington, and Miami in the celebration. Through the years, these parties have developed a reputation for their lavish style and attention to Bond-detail.

The black-tie-suggested event will begin at the George Eastman Museum’s Peristyle with a pre-party that’s fit for the stars, complete with a red carpet, fine hors d’oeuvres, and of course, Bollinger Champagne. Guests will then be invited into Eastman’s Dryden Theatre to be the first in America to view the film.

After the credits roll, guests will be transported in style back to the Strathallan Hotel for the after party — Bond-style. A whiskey bar, cigar rolling, ice sculptures, and live music are just a few of the evening’s highlights.

Some more interesting news as to why Bollinger chose Rochester:

Rochester will get the star treatment Tuesday as one of a shortlist of American cities holding an early screening of the new James Bond movie Spectre before a wide American release.

Bollinger Champagne, the company behind the beverage long associated with Mr. Bond, scheduled several American screenings of the film in large cities, including New York and Los Angeles, after the film’s world premiere in London Monday.

Company representatives recently visited the Strathallan Hotel in Rochester for a wine tasting and were blown away by its potential to hold a Bond-style bash, said Abel Gonzalez, the upstate fine wine manager for VTS, a partnership of wine importers and distributors that works with Bollinger in the U.S.

“We looked at each other and said, ‘Can we really make this happen?'" Gonzalez said.

The families behind Sony Pictures and Bollinger Champagne have a longstanding relationship with the Bond movies, he said, and Bollinger was able to schedule its U.S. screenings a few days prior to the nationwide release on Nov. 6.

In fact, Rochester will have the first and largest screening next week, said Joshua Miles of the Strathallan.

“It's very humbling and a little surprising," said Miles. His wife Jenna Miles, with whom he owns and operates The Revelry restaurant in Rochester, added that Rochester's rich history in film seemed to play a key role in the city being considered and chosen to hold the event.
