Question Penfields reputation...

Just wondering from someone who lives in or in surrounding towns of Penfield what their reputation is. What do other towns think of them? Is it considered affluent? Middle class? Upper middle etc. ?

Rochester really does not have a large affluent area. This is the top 5 wealthiest areas.
zip codes.....average household income.....average home price
14506......mendon................$80,113.......... ...$215,392
14534......Pittsford...............$88,789........ ....$212,350
14472.....Honeoye falls..........$73,256.............$200,911
14450.....Fairport................ $68,771............$170,853
14526.....Penfield...............$68,261.......... .....$159,414

Theses above town neighborhoods are near Penfield. To me they are consider middle class but to rochester it would be Upper Middle class to Affluent. This is because rochester area avearge household income is $49,130 and the average home price is $122,000.

I really don't think it matters where one lives in the Greater Rochester area....If you want to "pay" for a zip code....that's your choice.

Our household income is over 100K, and we live in Brockport. We have a wonderful school district here....extremely nice people....and I am sure our house would have cost quite a few thousand more if we would have moved anywhere on the "East Side".

I say, if you know the school districts are good, there are stores that meet your everyday needs(ie Wegmans, Lowes, etc) why not consider them as a choice. Basically any town around Rochester is a 20 min. commute to the city.

Good Luck with your choice.

That is a pretty ignorant comment. Every town has that.

And so do I and I have been here much, much longer than you.

Like I said before, every town in America unfortunately has drug and alcohol problems....Brockport is no exception. But that is not to say that it is not a good place to live and raise a family. You live by your own values and morals, not anyone else's.

Brockport is also a college town, so there will always be drug and alcohol problems just like every other college town in America!

Anyways...back to Penfield. It could most likely be called a middle/upper middle class suburb. Not really any "bad areas" at all. Many nice, maintained homes on well kept yards. Very good schools too.
