Smile Pittsford

My husband may get transferred to the Rochester area and I have heard Pittsford is nice. Is it a good place to raise kids (schools/activities)? I am not concerned about "snobiness" that I read about. I wanted good schools, safe and......how many months can I expect of snow? Any info you can share is really appreciated!

Schools are good and safe. Snow depending on the year is about Oct to March. Majority of the snowfalls is Mid-Dec to End of Feb/beginning of march

Yep- that about sums it up.

Schools are great - snows Oct. thru April. To clarify though, the October/November snows are usually mild - and the March/April snows are sparse as well. USUALLY ...

Pittsford and Fairport have amazing schools, cute towns, villages, access to canal...
Fairport has Fairport Electric which will save you a bundle!!!!! I love the Pittsford Village, but when it comes to the town as a whole I think Fairport is far better with community activities, rec center, sports, schools, more parks, friendliness... and only 5 minutes from Pittsford- the shopping and village. Houses are slightly more expensive in Pittsford than in Fairport but nothing drastic. Taxes are lower in Fairport though- which in this are says a lot!

I have a junior in HS in Fairport. Have heard that many colleges prefer Fairport kids to Pittsford/Brighton as Fairport kids seem more "well rounded" (into sports, drama, community service, etc. as well as academics). That said, you could do a lot worse than Pittsford. Moved here from the deep south more than two decades ago & love it here.

So a search for Fairport Schools... that will include Perinton in your search. They are basically one in the same but if you search only Fairport town it will not include Perinton homes (both go to FHS and are top notch).

We recently moved to Pittsford and really have zero to complain about. I have never found this "snobiness" that people refer too, it is all about who you choose to be friends with! We live on a great street and all the kids of all ages are always out and playing together and there are always a parent or two outside gabbing making sure all is well. I have heard many good things about the towns around us but Pittsiford has made us extremely welcome and I never had a chance to even be lonely or bored. We moved here for my husband commute and the schools.

pittsford is great. Definitley don't want to send your kids to Fairport. Worst school in the area. Brighton, Pittsford and Victor are the best.
