Default Ontario County Growth

I felt the "urge" to post something about the article in the D&C today regarding the growth in Ontario County.

We have family & friends who happen to be part of that population who picked up and moved from Monroe County to Ontario. Mainly due to the taxes, I am sure. That area has almost always had the lowest property taxes of all of the Rochester counties/suburbs (as well as Henrietta-which is still part of Monroe).

What strikes me is that as much as this growth is a positive thing for the area, we hope that the residents will soon realize their tranquil, low taxed way of life will soon be at the wayside if the growth continues. (low tax in comparison to the rest of the area that is)
Hopefully they won't see the drastic increase in housing prices that other areas have seen due to the growth and demand for a better location.
What will all of those residents who so much wanted to bash us as well as other residents of other areas of the U.S who have been experiencing skyrocketing real estate for years now say?
Those houses that they are building in Victor for $600K are probably no more worth that than our $500K homes here in the Mid-Atlantic.(and this would be for an older-fixer upper, at least a few years ago it would have been).

We are looking forward to now having our relatives and friends tell us how much their homes are now worth. Now it will be okay that their homes have increased in value when years ago when it was happening to the rest of the USA, it wasn't okay. Our homes aren't worth what they were acessing at and so on and so on......
The tables always turn and now it is our turn to sit and watch all of you not be able to afford a home....
Not that we enjoy it or anything, it is just ironic how things happen.

One thing we know for certain.... those $600K homes will have granite ,hardwood, stainless steel, upgraded light fixtures,etc....
You will still always get more of a house for the money there.
Our $500K home has no basement, hardwood, granite, stainless or sometimes not even a garage!

Are we jealous? Well, if we are being honest, sure! who wouldn't have wanted to have built a beautiful home in a beautiful area (yes-Ontario County is a beautiful place) with all the bells & whistles for that money?

Home will always be home and with all the sarcasim , we are truly happy that you can have your beautiful homes for the money you pay for them.
Just be careful what you wish for..........

I doubt that their home would increase in value that much considering the national real estate situation thats happening. Plus Victor still has lots of open space to build on, so housing will be plentiful, keeping the prices down. You aren't doing to see too many of these 600k houses being sold.
