Default Has anyone lived in NW Indiana?

We are moving to Indiana- I am sad to say. I love Rochester and will miss it so very much. I am true to the town, proud to be a W NYer, love all four seasons, the lifestyle is a great security blanket for me. I am nervous to make this move and leave everything I know... Has anyone on here lived in NW Indiana- Lake or Porter Counties especially? Can I get your opinion on what kind of culture shock I am going to encounter?

Will you be closer to the Chicago area? I spent some time in northern Indiana, more towards the middle of the state and it was a pretty big culture shock. Lots of Jesus freaks which made me feel pretty uncomfortable. There was little identity to the areas I was in. More towards Chicago areas get more populated. Its a slower pace out there.

Those are basically suburbs of Chicago. You won't see too much of a culture shock in those areas.

It's a shame you're leaving....we need more people like who to stay in this community! Chicago is a GREAT city though so being close to there will be nice.

I love Rochester, born and raised (for the most part) and am proud of it. I will miss it-but I will be back- the majority of my family is here and ALL of my friends... I am going to miss so much... I know Chicago has so much to offer... but my heart is here.
