How is Brockport?
Hi everyone!
I am new here. I am an international student who will be attending
SUNY College at Brockport this fall.
I was wondering how is the place like?
How is the social life?
Does is have places for entertainment?
Thank you in advance!

Well, I'll take a stab at it since nobody else has answered you - but take this as secondhand information and passive observation...
I hear it is a typical college town. Meaning that yes, there is a social life, and yes, there are places for entertainment - if it's the college bar scene that you're into. Other than that there is a small 2 or 3 screen movie theater, but that's about all I know. It's about 20-30 minutes from Rochester, if that's not too far for you to drive for a bigger social scene.
It's on the Erie Canal and it's not that far from Hamlin Beach State Park, if you are into outdoors stuff.

Brockport, N.Y.
Brockport is a very nice, neat, little town. SUNY College is within walking distance of the town of Brockport. Culturally the town is small town America. However, the college offers a lot of things to do. The Eire Canal is at the edge of town and has a nice path for walking or biking. Also, some places have canoes for rent. The village has a Farmer's Market most weekends and also several arts festivals during the year. There are a lot of old Victorian homes and the town is great for walking around. In the summer, shops put out tables and chairs and you can eat on Main Street and watch the traffic go by. Between the college and the high school (very near each other) there are ball fields and athletic things to do. It's an absolutely great place to raise a family. Hamlin Beach is about 8 miles from the town of Brockport and is very beautiful. Niagara Falls is about an hour drive and if you have never been there, that is a must see.

I live in Hamlin, 7 minutes from Brockport. Brockport is a great town and place to live, your gonna love it! Yes it is a college town and main street is always happening with nice bars and eats. It's a friendly town! Also old and young can be found at the same hangouts! The canal runs right thru the town. It's got every thing you would need in the area! parks, theater, bars, churches, liquier stores, Walmart, computer shops, three tattoo places, drug paraphenalia shop, pizza shops. It's got it all. Enjoy!

Brockport scares me so bad. I have never felt so threatened in such a small village. I am from Albany... Albany was supposed to be more dangerous than Brockport but nope, I thought wrong! I must say I was very disappointed with the village!

Albany is much scarier than Brockport because of the lone fact that it houses the NYS Government! I've never felt that someone was going to find a new way to rape me [financially] every day in Brockport!

Are you being serious? Don't listen to Skm, Brockport is beautiful. I wish I didn't lose my darn camera in Buffalo. Other wise I would be taking a lot of pictures for you. Brockport has kept its old buildings and maintained them very well.

I hope your kidding. Those buildings make Brockport what it is today. They are kept up very nice and they are all in use.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!! This is a city-data classic.
Our state's mismanagement of funds sucks though. I'm going into my third year of college now and this summer I got a job working for the state. For the first time in my life I'm making really decent money and now I'm like in limbo because the state government is under a hiring freeze and I will likely not be hired back next summer.
All because of Albany's financial rape!
