Looking for opinions about life in the 19th ward what are strengths of the community? What are the problems? How do you feel about your community? and what could be done to change it? Any help is appreciated working on a project for school!

You should try Reddit. It has a well trafficked Rochester forum where you are likely to get more responses. My answers:
Strengths: Affordable housing, beautiful homes built in the early 1900s and have the nice character of that era.
Weakness: Would like to see more of these homes & yards kept up and maintained.
I took a chance on the 19th Ward, albeit on the outskirts. No issues with crime, I have nice neighbor's. No regrets.
Good luck!

The fringe of the 19th is OK, lots of college students, working people, etc. Just in from the canal.
Problems: Not much in the way of amenities, in fact virtually none. The area continues to decline. Structurally, while nice looking, the 1920's homes through there west of Thurston were built on an old city dump. So lots of cracks in the plaster. Also the infrastructure (sewer lines, etc.), is really old. Sewer line poblems are frequent, and the sanitary sewer and storm sewer are one in the same, so I've been told. Airport noise is a concern.

^ That reminds me, does anyone know how this area is holding up?: https://rocwiki.org/Brooks_Landing
I know that there is/was an attempt to highlight businesses on Thurston: https://m.facebook.com/groups/304829...nt_filter&_rdr
It is also a neighborhood not too far from big box shopping in Henrietta. So, that could play a part in shopping habits/options that people go with, if they live in the outer portions of the neighborhood.
Also, Wegmans HQ’s are nearby in Gates going down Brooks.
