When I first arrived I was questioned about my heritage...no problem, I thought...but many people were dismayed that my family is from Switzerland (Ticino)....I never though that being twenty miles across the border was that big of a deal but maybe it is to these older gentlemen. Like I said, some were nice and some were not - my teammates would speak to me in Italian and converse amoung themeselves in their native dialect which I do not speak or understand. Maybe I need to find a Swiss club and take some classes in German...
Anyways...I have been so busy enjoying the many other activities here in Rochester that I have not given much thought to bocce. I miss the game but there is so much to do - hockey, lacrosse, festivals, concerts and Wegmans- that I guess I have found others ways to occupy my time. I really am glad that I live in Rochester...the quality of life here is quite good, better than I expected. Although there was a point in January when I found myself California dreamin......
I have not researched or inquired about any bocce leagues this Spring...if I hear of anything I be sure to post. Best of luck on your move....Go Kings!

That's funny, I got the same thing when I lived in Little Italy. I'd walk into this one bakery and they'd get this disgusted looks on their faces and say "ugh, Americans" (it has more of an impact if you say it with a broken accent

I totally am aware that I was born in the US, but you'd think they'd be a little appreciative that the "kids" were interested in keeping up with the customs and such. Oh well.
Glad to hear that you're enjoying the move to Rochester. Gotta admit that I'm going to miss some of the things I'm used to in a bigger city (especially Taco Trucks). As a native Clevelander, I'm hoping that snow skills will come back. My father grew up in LA and although he's been happily married for 45 years...still cringes at the winter weather. So, you might not ever get used to the snow
