Bausch + Lomb Corp. announced the U.S. launch Monday of Bausch + Lomb INFUSE Multifocal silicone hydrogel (SiHy) daily disposable contact lenses, which are being manufactured in the company’s Rochester facility.
The company completed a 115,00-square-foot expansion to its building off of North Goodman Street in 2021, which included the addition of production lines to manufacture the lenses.
The contact lenses address the needs of patients with presbyopia while minimizing contact lenses dryness and discomfort.
“With the prevalence of presbyopia estimated to be nearly 80 percent by age 45-55 in North America, and an increasing aging society in the United States that spends more than nine hours a day on digital devices, we are proud to use our latest science and contact lens technologies to provide eye care professionals and their patients with this new innovative multifocal lens option,” said Yang Yang, senior vice president, Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb.
Bausch + Lomb is one of the Rochester area’s largest manufacturers with roughly 1,200 local employees.
Good to see that B&L is expanding their operations here, in Rochester, rather than going "offshore". Just a bit of trivia, I'm sure that many people don't know that B&L's Goodman Street campus was originally a General Dynamics facility, and was taken over by B&L in the early 1970s, IIRC.
EDIT: For "5 bonus points", can anyone remember what business had space in front of the complex, when General Dynamics was located there?

At the corner of Goodman and Northland was a storefront, I believe it was Bonds clothing?
There is also a huge water tank for the fire system. The company Hydro Acoustics used to use it for testing. They are now located in Henrietta.
I remember seeing that tank a few times, as both my wife and I used to live within a couple miles of that area, in days gone by. In fact, a couple of Christmases, when I was in college, I delivered mail in that very neighborhood that the B&L facility is located, but I haven't been past there in a long time.
