You get the same old stuff you would expect from city schools. Drugs, fights, etc, only it's all white. Thats the only difference. Brockport is a fun town cus its a college town. Not surprising it has more bars on main street and is very nice! You can safely walk downtown streets any time. The area is patrolled by the state police and brockport police. Neither will bother you unless you are obviously drunk or suspicious. They don't wait for you to pull out of bars lol.

Sweden is a dive, but nice place to live. Hamlin and Hilton are also a dive but nice place to live. Restaurants are nothing to brag about but acceptable. No real business to speak of. As most towns in this area business is scarce. As you travel further west towards Albion it gets cheaper to live but same old same old as far as schools and jobs. Upstate NY is suffering these days.

Bottom line, your still gonna see the same old teenage crime accept like I said it's just mostly white. This fact does not matter much to any one who is a victim of any crime. There are less violent crimes.

There is NOT just as much crime in Sweden as there is in the city...that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. It isn't even just "white people commiting crime vs. black people commiting crime"..there is more crime commited by white people in the city than by white people in Sweden/Brockport too. Sweden is a very safe (though admitedly far-out and somewhat "dull") town. You will notice more public drunkeness and petty crime in Brockport than other towns in Monroe County (again, NOT including the city of Rochester)..but no more than in any other typical college town.

I didn't say "the same amount", please read again, I said "same old stuff". I even said Sweden is a nice place to live but a dive (my opinion), same as the town I live in lol. But there is no denying there is crime there. may be you just don't hear about it? I have been involved in neighborhood watches in a couple of those towns. It's mostly teenagers and petty crimes, burglaries and robberies, auto break ins. I never implied there is the 'same amount" of crime as the city. Not sure how you got that?

I completely disagree with this post. Sweden is a great town, which does include the Village of Brockport. Yes, obviously Brockport is a SUNY college town and because of that there is more "crime" than lets say Spencerport, or Hilton. Most of the "crimes" are very minor...for example, disorderly conduct, open containers, etc...even rarer are the auto/home break ins.

I would not at all compare Brockport Schools AT ALL to the city. Brockport has a wonderful school district with caring and compassionate teachers and staff. Again, it's all how you look at it. I am an involved parent with both my children and I have never had one negative experience with the district.

Sweden is a town that is continuing to grow. Within the past two years, a Super Walmart has been built, as well as a Lowes, we of course have Wegmans, Pharmacy Stores, All the quaint stores on Main Street in the Village, a few nice local restaurants, new housing developments being built, new senior 55+ patio home developments, etc..etc...

I would definitely recommend this town to anyone looking to move to the area.

WOW. May be its me and not you. If two people misunderstood my post may be I didnt make myself clear enough lol.

I LIVE in Hamlin 7 minutes from Brockport, and visit Sweden and Brokport a lot. I know people in each town.

Let me see if I can be more clear on this.

Brockport is cool. I prefer Brockport over my town and Sweden, which I consider both to be dives. About as exciting as watching paint dry.

As for crime. I NEVER said crime was as big as Rochester!

I DID say you will find a lot of the same crime there, and you will! Accept it will be by whites mostly.

Teenagers have a lot of time to kill in rural areas with not a lot of things to do accept in Brockport which has more to do.

You will see the usual petty crimes as in the big city. Auto break ins, home burglaries, vandalism. Is it the same as Rochester? NO! Less, but still present.

The schools. Same petty crap. Fights, drugs, alcohol, etc. Just at a smaller portion due to population.

If you have kids. Your kids can still get in trouble or be the victim of trouble.

Personally I would not recommend sweden to any one unless you are a senior citizen. Thats just my opinion yes. But no where did I say the crime as bad or the same level as the city. I merely said you will find a lot of the same even in the sticks! Which I al;so live in the sticks too! The only change I see is people are moving away! So u should be able to find a house easy

Regards!
