Default In Rochester on Business

Hi, I'll be visiting Rochester on business 2 weeks from now. I am a little fuzzy on details right now, but want to know more about the area. I'll only be there for Friday and Saturday. What all is there to do on a Friday night. I keep reading things about Wegmans? What's all this hoopla over a grocery store? I'll come by and add more as I get a better idea of what I'm doing. Thanks!

What are your interests (live music, bars, getting drunk, sports, etc.)? Do you know where you will be staying?

If you are going to visit Wegmans, visit the Pittsford Wegmans. It still is just a grocery store, but it is widely viewed as one of the best in the country (just ask Cher) and highly studied and visited by experts in the field.

Go to the Pittsford Wegmans and you will see the hoopla... That is the best one in Rochester. You can even eat there- lots of things to choose from. But worth just going to see if you have never been to a Weggies before. Friday night in the summer usually you will find the action down at East End... bands, bars... that type of thing...

Well I will be there on business...the event is on Saturday morning so I can't get wasted or stay out too late. Anything fun...or a place I "can't miss" would be nice...as I will be there alone. I'll be @ the Doubletree in Rochester's Business district.

That is in Henrietta... a SUBURB... it isn't in Rochester downtown... there are a ton of plazas, a mall... it's your run of the mill suburban shopping plaza loving town.... You will need to get into your car and go DOWNTOWN if you want to have serious nighlife... In Henrietta there are some nice dining establishments, a few bars, lots of SHOPPING... Look up Henrietta NY and you will find more - tons of BIG Chain Dining Places- appelbees, Carabas, Red Robin.....and Big Box Stores...it isn't a walking town... you need a car there.

If you want to be entertained, stay away from the area your hotel is in. Its a boring suburban strip mall area. Head into the city, to the east end. Hit up the old toad if you don't want to over do it on Friday night. Its a British pub with a very large selection of beers, and is low key.
I also think that weekend "zoo brew" is going on. The zoo will shut down to children during happy hour and there is beer/wine with bands.
There are a number of live music venues in the city depending on which type of music you are into.
If you like greasy food, there are "garbage plates" at various diners in the area. You could also try a white hot.
Any other recommendations would depend on your age and tastes.

I AGREE with the Old Toad... LOVE IT! Really laid back feel and good grub. I also Like Park Ave for dining...Cibon is a cool cafe- coffee/wine bar- desserts and such... Is East End Fest going on then? It is either THIS coming Friday or the Friday after... It is a music festival.

Alright well they sure lied on their website. They said there were in the heart of the business district. haha. I'm 25 and down for anything...well...just about anything. That Old Toad place sounds fun. We'll see! Keep the suggestions coming!
