suburb near bloomfield?
Hi. My husband has a job offer from a company in Bloomfield. We are looking in the 3-450,000 price range for a house, but not more than a 20 minute drive to work. We have a 6 year old and 3 year old. Our tastes are all over the map...Mcmansion, older home, whatever as long as we are near families with children, parks, grocery stores, etc. He grew up near Senaca Falls, but I'm from TN (where we live now). This will be a huge move for us if he accepts this offer, so I have read a lot on this forum. The weather doesn't scare me, but the taxes sure do!! Is Pittsford too far away? Any input will be greatly appreciated!

My father works in Bloomfield but lives in Fairport. The schools are great and we have Fairport electric which is much cheaper. The price range you are looking for should be easily to find in Fairport.

Thanks for all the great info. My husband will be in that area again next week. We have liked Victor a lot when we visited it before. Does anyone have any opinions about Victor, good or bad?

Victor is the fastest growing town in New York State...take that as a good or a bad thing. It's a very desireable place to live because it's in lower-taxed Ontario County (rated the best rural county to live in in America...eventhough it's not that rural anymore) yet still close enough to the city and larger suburbs in Monroe County. The growth in that area has caused a lot of controversy and some people don't like it, but it is a beautiful area and not a bad commute at all to Bloomfield/Farmington. Victor is really more of a suburb now, while it's neighbor to the south, Canandaigua, is still pretty small-town oriented and also right on one of the fingerlakes (Canandaigua lake). You really can't go wrong with any of the towns in western Ontario county or southeastern Monroe County.

Would it be wrong if I wanted Victor to be annexed into Monroe County?

haha....don't know how many people in Victor would be happy about that, but it sure would make Monroe County look better.
