Default Special Ed Schools in Pittsford, Victor, Mendon

We need to find a better quality of life. On our list of places to research is Pittsford, victor and Medon, NY. Before we can settle on a town/area we need to find out about the public schools and what they have to offer if your child has special needs. My oldest has development delays. Basically, she needs additional support academically. She learns at a slower pace. She is currently in an excellent public school program in NJ and will be going into a "regular ed" first grade classroom with a 1 to 1 aid. I have not had to fight for too much as it relates to her education. She gets PT, OT and speech therapy multiple times per week. If I asked for 5X a week for any/all therapies she got it.

I am more than satisfied with the education and support my daughter has received in her current school. The Child Study Team and the teachers have been very supportive and diligent in getting her to the point she is now. While she still needs a lot of support and therapies her track record proves that given the tools and help she will succeed. Molly is an incredibly hard worker. We need to find her a school that appreciates her strengths and will work as hard as she does on her weaknesses.

My biggest fear is that we will get into a system that isn't what it seemed. Any help, informaton, links would be greatly appreciated[/font]

I grew up and worked in Pittsford schools. They will go overboard for your childs needs. You also need to be your own advocate and be pushy you'll get what you want as a district they HATE negitive attention
