Hi,
I am moving to Rochester from California in December. I am looking at the Park Ave area. I am trying to look at apartments online and am having trouble. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of what streets or buildings I should stay clear of.

Default Park Avenue

As a general matter all of the streets named after famous colleges north of Monroe Avenue are safe and close to the action, as are the streets running east to west in this general area (East, Park, Harvard). I personally think of the area east of Godman as the better part (though there are some gfreat streets to the west, like Arnold Park). So, Oxford, Rutgers, Dartmouth, Barrington, etc. are great streets. The ABC (Audubon, Beverly, Calumet, etc.) streets east of Culver Road are exceptional residential streets that tend to be on the quiet side. You will pay a little more here in general as these tend toward owner-occupied homes. The area south of Monroe is frequently called the Pearl-Meigs-Monroe neighborhood; it's considerably rougher and downright ghettoey in some parts.
