When is that picture from? To me it looks like late 70's/early 80's

It's from 1987 according to the user who originally uploaded it to Wikipedia. In fact, that building shown under construction appears to be the Hyatt which would make '87 sound about right.

Yeah I saw the Hyatt under construction but wasn't sure when exactly it was built. Cool photo; and I agree, the B&L headquarters really helped fill out the skyline; it looks much better now that it does in that photo.

That sounds about right. I remember when the Hyatt was built. Also, I have one of those 1984 sesquicentennial Rochester Kodak pictures around my basement somewhere and that building is not it in (from memory).

Side note: Does anyone have a link to a digital version of the 1984 Sesquicentennial Rochester Kodak picture?

Man, what a pathetic skyline. The B&L building really does make the current view we enjoy now. Not to mention the Freddie Sue bridge from the southern view. That previous bridge was an aesthetically disastrous mess!

Great photos! They really highlight some of the wonderful, historic architecture we have here in Rochester.

Another good idea for center-city photography would be the old homes down East and Park Avenues and Grove Place.

I took that with my iPhone actually. I'm not sure why but it's one of my favorite pictures. The rest of these were taken with my new Canon T2i. Some are a bit blurry also.

I just dug these up from December 09. They are taken with an iphone, so not the best, but I am fond of a few. We were just driving around downtown, there were flurries on and off throughout the day.

Default Hotel Seneca, c.1908

I just saw this huge vintage photo of this beautiful, old hotel:
