Default Taxicab Availability in Webster

I will travel to Rochester in July, arriving by plane or train.
I know if I fly, taxis will be a dime a dozen. Should I take the train,
the station is on Central Ave.; I should arrive @ 10 - 11 in the morning.
Are taxis common in that are during the mornings? I ask because
taxis tend to hover in the Down Town areas. I don't know whether or
not 320 Central ave is part of down town. This will be my first time
in Rochester.

On to Webster, I'm sure I'll get a taxi to the hotel there, what about coming down town?
I'll spend most of my time in Rochester down town. If taxis are
difficult to find in Webster, I'll book a down town hotel or find a sublet.

I am accustomed to larger cities where taxis are commonly
on the roads and you wave one down.

I'd call a taxi if I weren't deaf.

Thanks so much for the help,

-S

I can't help you regarding Webster, but my husband travels to NYC and back frequently via Amtrak, so I'm pretty familiar with the train station. It's downtown, but kind of set in the middle of several intersecting roads, so it feels like it's a bit removed from the rest of the city. However, I always see taxis waiting there so I assume that they do meet the trains. I would expect that there would be several there at the time of day you'd be arriving.

i f cabs represent a headache to you why you do not opt for rent a car(enterprise). I think it will be more flexible for you.

I may find the sublet to suit my stay closer to my activities, so I may
not stay in Webster. For this time, I'll only travel to places in the
Inner Loop, and will most likely walk to all the stops. Fortunately,
I can take my bike on Amtrak; this, will eliminate any need
for a rental car.

Have a wonderful day,

-s
