I was searching the northern lights online when I found this website

Wide Field

There was a picture on there taken near Geneseo in 2004 of the Northern Lights. Has anyone ever seen them this far south?

They've been seen as far south as 35 degrees North Latitude, which is about as far south as Las Vegas, and Rochester is at 43, so I'm sure you can probably catch them a few times a year - though you probably wouldn't see them in the city due to light pollution, you might get them in the surrounding countryside.
Plus, someone must have seen them this far south. I mean, they did take a picture in Geneseo, right?

I've seen them by the lake. They are tough to see close to the city or immediately south of it (Henrietta, Brighton) I am sure.

I have seen the Northern Lights one summer night at Port Bay (Wolcott, Wayne County). Most beautiful site you can imagine....especially with the reflection in the water! So yes you can definitely see the northern lights in this region.

I live in the "sticks" you could say..... head EAST and you will see them..... Get away from the city though- you don't want that glow/light pollution around- it has to be dark..... but yes.... out in "the middle of nowhere" they have been known to show up.....

skbs said it best...light pollution. Inside the city limits you will not see your "normal" ionized solar discharge. But even 7 miles south of the city makes a lot of difference. In Gates, where I worked, I saw a glorious red and green display and from my driveway in Henrietta there was a greenish-grey show a few years earlier that lasted 20 minutes and covered the entire north-south span of the sky.

I can see November from my porch.

Saw the lights for several minutes, through a break in the clouds over Christmas of '04 (Ontario County).
