Can you name some of the things they might do?
Prince, what's going on with the PD? Do they target Black people?

When I lived in Irondequoit some years ago, it was a mostly older neighborhood. One black kid was going around at 8pm (around dusk) selling those cards that pizza places often do, where you spend $X for Y number of pizzas, or a discount of pizzas, or such. I was talking to the kid on my porch when I noticed an Iron. PD cop pull in my driveway. As he walked down the driveway, it was summer so I could hear him say that some neighbors called about a suspicious person and since the kid didn't have a permit to be selling the cards, they just told him he should go home.
I agree that no one would "do" anything, it is just the attitude. At the same time, there were black and interracial families that lived on the street had much less problems than some white families on the street, as it is more about taking care of your property and not causing a disturbance than the color of your skin. Though I guarantee that if the kid selling the cards was white, the police wouldn't have been called.

IIRC, last year the Greece school district tried to purge itself of Rochesterians who were pretending to live in the Greece school district. While this was a true problem for sure, many blacks in Greece considered it a witch hunt against Greece blacks and there were cases of kids being falsely accused of living out of district.
The fact is, Northern cities racism is different. I think most Northerners consider themselves non-racist and make an effort to be non-discriminatory. Here and just as much as in other Northern cities, the racism is much more subtle.

I think there was an article in the D&C about some suburban districts thinking that some of the students were sneaking into their schools from the city of Rochester. I think Gates-Chili also was addressing this supposed issue. What I think happens is that many students will stay with other relatives or family to go to the schools in those districts.

Maybe the Gates-Chili or Ruch-Henrietta SD's would be a better idea.

I wouldn't say Greece is completely diverse. While there are probably plenty of tolerant people, I know too many racist people who are afraid that all dark skinned people represent the trash of the city. They are worried that Greece is turning into the city. I don't remember as many people from Buffalo having this sort of opinion. My opinion has changed over the course of a few years as I hear this more and more from different people. I would think the most racially diverse area is the city.

Well there's no doubt the most racially diverse area is the city. But the question was what suburbs are the most racially diverse. I still think that would be Brighton and Henrietta.

Hey NYJERI -
I noted in your original post you mentioned the commute to NYC - 6 hours would be close. I don't see how commuting from Rochester to NY would be possible w/o flying. Just FYI.

whoa I didn't see that part either! Yeah, a commute from Rochester to NYC is not something I'd suggest to anyone. Unless it's a once every couple weeks commute or something.
