Hi Folks,
I've got a wedding to go to in downtown Rochester in a few weeks. I've never been (except for a few hours to pick up a car I bought on Ebay!) so I'll be sure to scour this forum to find some fun stuff to do.

I've been searching the internet for a place to stay, specifcally a hostel or a cheaper hotel/motel that isn't terrible. But I haven't come up with anything, so I wondered if you had any suggestions.

Thanks!

If you can handle the noise from being in a nightspot, the East Ave Inn is cheap. I had friends that stayed there and it seemed clean when I went to pick them up. The other hotels downtown aren't going to be cheap.

I saw mixed reviews about the East Ave Inn, but it seems like my best option thus far. Thanks much!

yea, I'd imagine since it's cheaper, you'll get mixed reviews.

For the same price as East Ave Inn, I was able to stay at the Hyatt downtown through bidding on Priceline. The hotel was super nice. Parking was additional, but only $3 per day from what I remember.

There's a B&B on Magee Avenue off Dewey. Reen's Bed and Breakfast - Rochester, NY Accommodations
$70 a night. Includes breakfast, though.

There aren't many inexpensive places to stay in Rochester.

Thanks! I looked into Reen's and I decided against it due to the late hour at which we'll arrive.

It was between the Microtel in Henrietta and the Hyatt downtown. We found a good AAA rate at the Hyatt - $90 including breakfast - and since most of the other wedding guests are staying there, and the wedding is downtown, we decided to bite the bullet and do it as well. I'm such a sucker for a swimming pool and wanderability.

I just wish I could have made it to a Red Wings game! Doesn't look like it will work though I may go check out the stadium in the daytime. I'm a big Orioles fan and I'm betting there's some Ripken memorabilia there?

I'm not sure there is any Ripken memorabilia there other than his Red Wings Hall of Fame plaque. He only played 1 season for the Red Wings. Plus they are a Twins organization now. He will be on the Red Wings Strip Card Giveaway on May 14th.

Any really low cost Hotels/Motels in ROCHESTER NY? Cheaper the better! Can even be the local crack spot!
