I live on Marylands Eastern Shore and there are quite a few fishing villiage areas. I believe I have asked this before, but I am curious if there is anywhere that you know of where there are fishing villiages on the ocean? I know on the outerbanks there are some. Some have mentioned the NW, and also the New England area. Is there anywhere that you know of in the South East in South Carolina or GA? Or for that matter anywhere? Thanks.

Look the area south of Tallahassee, where the Appalachicola forest comes out on the ocean. A few nice small towns.
I think ogend is referring to the fishing village of Appalachicola. It is a nice town, about an hour east of the heavily commercialized tourist area of Panama City, FL. Appalachicola is an authentic fishing town, with some local retail, restaurants and small hotels around town. You won't find a Wal Mart or other big box store or mall here. The air and water are very clean. There are not any major industrial facilities nearby, nor coal burning power plants. The reason this town is a fishing village is the Appachicola River empties into the Gulf at this location, and the adjacent bay is protected by offshore barrier islands. Appachicola Bay is rich in oysters. It is a long ways from any main Interstate highway and major airport, and sometimes referred to as the forgotten coast. As you might guess, I like that town. There are beautiful beaches just outside the town, out on St George Island and Cape San Blas.
being a surfer i find it very interesting to think that there would be waves breaking into the forest...is this possible?
