Hi there,

I am currently living in Northern Va and really don't like it. I'd much rather find a small town, I don't have too much preference but the following would be nice:

Lower COL (coming from NVa, I think this may not be too hard)
Close to a beach or beach town.
A town where it is a true community with people who truly know and (when needed) help each other. Where there is a diner/restaurant that is a local hang-out.
I don't particularly like winter, so if there is a town like this with good year-round weather?
A town where you can walk most places and where renting a house or whatever is available.

I know this is a lot to ask. Fulfilling just one or 2 would be good. I know it's fictional but a town similar to Stars Hollow (Gilmore Girls) is what I have in mind. Does anyone live here or know about such a place?

From my experience, Beaufort or Swansboro in North Carolina both fit your wish list pretty closely.

You know the Eastern Shore of MD, Del, and even Va in your state have some great small towns that are near the beach. The one thing that bothers me about Maryland is that the politics that governs the state dont go with my beliefs, and the taxes are very high...and that is where i currently live, and have lived my whole life. My wife grew up on the eastern shore of Va near chincoteague...great rural areas down there. There are some great places on the outerbanks and into nc like was mentioned above.
