Forgive me if this question has already been posted. I'm new.
I've been living in Hoboken, NJ for 7 years and have to get out! My husband and I are originally from rural NE Pennsylvania, and we'd love to return to a country setting that still allows for us to commute no more than 1.5 hours door to door to our jobs in Manhattan. We'd rent to start.
Can anyone suggest a city/area in NJ, NY, or PA to begin our search? I've heard it's better to narrow your options so here's our list:

1+ bedroom
close to train/bus to NYC or connections
Lakefront or private yard a plus
cat friendly
Try places in Orange County NY like Warwick, Tuxedo Lake, Pine Bush or Goshen.
