I agree with ya about gates. Everyone has different ideas and preferences, Im just one of those who love my small niche of the worls. I dont like those cookie-cutter areas where all the houses look alike...beige with red or tan roofing. Gates, no thanks. Heck we dont even have fences separating properties. Where there may be fencing is usually because they have a dog or a horse....

And what farm would you buy to turn into a gated community? That is not a "lifestyle" desired in rural living. Maybe in some ski community it'd work -- but not in my town. it wouldn't get passed in Zoning!

We have a lot out here, but I don't care for them. I don't really know if they're "safer," but they market them that way. Weird phenomenon to me.

Are you speaking of cities like Phoenix, or of rural or small town areas in AZ?

Can't say that I've ever heard of a gated community out here in a rural/small town area - unless electric fences count.
