For me...it means EVERYTHING. I grew up in a big city..(UGGGGH) I DREAMED of a small town! I'm an only child...living in a small town makes me feel the entire town is family, I never felt like an outsider.OHHHHH.... I found my dream farmhouse (built in 1886) I LOVE my life in a small town! I made friends, we joke about how we were 'seperated at birth'....it's AMAZING...for me it is a dream!
Lived in small towns most of my life. Formative years in a town of about 1200. Lived in Boston, NYC, Sacramento too. Prefer the small town life. Quieter, generally less expensive, less stressful. Not perfect but what is. Small town living means a lot to me.
I moved from an area of about 500,000 to a small mountain town of 800 (300 in winter) when I retired. I loved it there! People were friendly and open. It was quiet too. Stupidly I moved away, but plan to move back this summer. There's an old saying, the best thing about a small town is everyone knows everyone. The worst thing about a small town is everyone knows everyone.
The only storefront business in our town is a gunsmith. Wednesday mornings the town's menfolk gather in his shop to discuss things over coffee. [mostly hunting, fishing, trapping, and crops]

I'm a Happy Boy ~ by "The Beat Farmers" See it on YouTube !
I enjoy the lack of noise from buses, screams and gunshots, off and on throughout the night and filthy air to breath.
Give me a small town, or better yet, just outside of a small town and I am "A Happy Boy". ~♥~

I live in what is more like a "small city". I'm an Atlanta native who has escaped. I love the fact that my city is small enough that wherever I go, I run into someone that I know, but big enough that not everyone is in my business. I love that locally, my voice is heard, my vote counts, my opinion is easily influential, and i can make a difference in the community.
