Stop going to bar, clubs and churches. Go to grocery stores, clothing stores and parks.

Don't forget, in some small towns women have to compete with animals so things can get tough.

Ha. The main thing holding me back from moving to a small town is just the prospect of a job that pays well enough for me to pay my bills and keep a roof over my head and food on the table. But I have often thought, "I bet I'd be the only single woman, and I'd never get married, and townspeople would find my wild-dog eaten corpse months after I died..."

So, at least I know there's some single men in small and rural towns that are looking.

I used to be a single woman in a small town. I did not want a guy from within, had to import one to have one. To have dated anyone from town is like dating every available person in town. You get to know way too much...not my thing.
Plus, any single guy was single for a reason...not into that at all.

There is an old saying, that I have found to be true- 'stop looking and you will find them'

That's a good point and I've seen that happening. Young single women in small towns know a great deal about the available young single men...more than they care to know sometimes. They went to the same school, know who they dated, know why they broke up, know if they were cheating or not, etc. After a while they look elsewhere.

In the small towns in the south especially the common mentality is to marry young and have kids young. I know MANY women who are only 18 or 19, already married, and some are already having children. Pretty young in my opinion, but it's fairly common practice in small towns, especially in the south.

This is also common in the military. If you go to a larger and more urban metro area you will find a plethora of singles with no children and no marriages all the way up to their late 20's. You just an environment that has a greater mix of people.

Add classes, feed and hardware stores. Capable women aren't looking, but they make GREAT and resourceful helpers.

Well I don't think women in small towns wait to get married for a long period of time as do women in large cities. I am 40, single, newly shifted to a small town and surprised that they have very few (virtually no) single women.
