HI,I live in Canada and the winters We have are just bad.Now I have A 2008 B 7510 21 HP kubota 4wd HST trans,LA 302 loader with the Wallenstein GX 620 backhoe and belly mount sub frame for strength . What"A" machine! There,s know stopping it. This is one Tough unit.Good little tractor and backhoe for the farm,cottage or home. Now if you can get your hands on one ? BYE IT!! Dano.

My neighbor bought one but really has little use other than at ne time he did. Not that he regretted it but he sold it finally and bought more what he need which was a riding lawn mower. It was nice the time when we bought dirt to spread together tho.
People need to take the time to size the tractor to what they will be doing with it. Keeping filters clean and greasing all the zerks will help make things last. Many old tractors are still going strong.
When anyone asks how big a machine they need I always answer figure out the biggest load or toughest job you will be lifting or doing and get the next bigger machine. The most expensive machine you can own is one just a bit too small for the job.
Is it cost effective to get a tractor to both snow plow and mow? 1.5 flat acres.

We get plenty of snow - somewhere around 150" a year. Driveway is not too long, about 125 ft.

Do you 'want' 1.5 acre of lawn? That is a huge lawn.
My Massey-Ferguson is only a little bit larger, with 24Hp. It can accept a mower-beck, but I have no intention to be mowing lawn, so I do not have the mower-deck.
For me a backhoe is a huge advantage.
I have 100+ yards of driveway. A loader-bucket can clear a driveway, much better than a shovel. However when we get 18" of snow, it still took half-a-day to do it. After a few years, I got a pto-powered snow-blower, and now I clear my driveway in 20 minutes.
In fact, in this area, you could buy a brand new 24Hp tractor with snow-blower, and just by clearing other people's driveways every winter, make enough cash to cover the payments for buying it.
Put a disc-harrow on it, and you can work your land. Reshape it slowly and replant anything you want.
