Hello,

I have made a regretful move and am in a part of Qld they market as a reasonable place, i.e. Maleny. Being a country town I thought it would be reasonably quiet. It is difficult to rest because these types are very unpleasant people, they use power tools on public holidays, yell out to to eachother if the person is standing next to them. In the centre of this town, there are senior citizens, yet brazen, selfish bogans will behave with no respect for council law or body corporate laws, cranking up their tools almost constantly. They yell in open air when they know someone may be sleeping. Being harrassing and horrible to others is their recreational choice. They yell to traumatise intentionally, especially if you are not one of them. I am very keen to go however want to be wise about where I go. Melbourne is better, although I understand there are areas that may not be ideal there too. I live in Australia and am needing to go soon the place I am living now is overflowing with derro zombie rednecks, some with degrees, just bad people. I must go, but I need to have an idea of somewhere reasonable. Some encouraging feedback welcomed. Thanks.

By absolute number Melbourne would have more bogans than any place in Australia, with Sydney a close second. There is no where in the country you will avoid them totally.

Why not buy an acreage around Maleny and only go into town when necessary?

Either that or move to a higher income area in a major city, we never have any of the problems you listed where we live.

Reading the Wikipedia entry makes them sound like what we call "patch-rats" around here. Loosely defined you could call them..... "lowlifes". Politically correct speak would be "the underprivileged".

This really should be in the Australian section, and I am sure it would be a heated debate.

Wow, this is my town in Arizona exactly. Guess I won't need to move down under after all.
