So, I am embarrassed to admit I have developed a mild obsession with CWTV's The Vampire Diaries. I blame wine and Netflix. I am a late-20's working professional, not a giggling teenaged girl enthralled by Ian Somerhalder's smoulder, so I really have no excuse. Anyway, I digress...
If you've seen the show, Mystic Falls is a (fictitious) small town in "Virginia" (though actual filming takes place in Covington, GA). The thing I'm really drawn to is the sense of community in the town. It's a town that loves its history, has many gorgeous pageants and balls, and seems to always have a festival or event going on, while staying a small, tight-knit community.
Obviously, I get that this is a made-up place for a made-up show, but do small southern towns, with balls and festivals still exist anymore? If so, I'm getting me a pair of vamp dentures and packing my bags
