in our town of 2,000 people, the people here don't grumble about traffic lights, as they have to drive 50 miles to find one.

Any others?
When giving directions on 45 mile stretch of road you use the 3 traffic lights as a marker of where you are.

My nearest town is 20 miles away. It has a population of 3500 and is the one with the three lights.

You laugh at the examples of one-upmanship sprinkled through this thread.

You know when your rural if the wife asks you to go food shopping and you grab the gun or fishing rod!

Your wife wants to know if your done cooking and you have to get the food wrapped in tinfoil off the truck exhaust manifold!

When your a kid you spend all year double and triple daring your friends to soap the windows for Halloween of the farmer that shoots at you with rock salt! It doesn't sting forever!

You know you're rural when you order a pizza and they'll only deliver it if you meet them half-way.

Locks slow down dishonest people. Maybe not by much, but I’ll take every advantage I can get to thwart them. And if they persist and I’m at home, I would use that other device common in rural areas...
