Picking just one great small town in New England is nearly impossible. There are too many to choose from, although I'll share photos of some of the favourites I've visited:

Sandwich, New Hampshire

Thank you for the perfect pictures. That's exactly like it is here and if I weren't here already I'd be soooooooooo homesick.

Great photos, thank you!
I lived in Westport, Maine, which is actually part of Wiscasset. So don't forget Bath, Maine! I loved sitting in the old library, with the library cat sleeping, looking out the huge windows at the boats slowing making their way down the river. A real working town, nearer to employment than Wiscasset, accessible to Portland, and full of old houses. The town's two main streets are actually "Front" and "Center."!
And driving down the finger of land to Reid State Park- the most beautiful beach in the world, rocks and crashing waves and a mile of sand.

Default OMG How Beautiful

Thank you so much for sharing all those photos. It's like going back in time. It must be so nice to see all the history in these places. I am from Phoenix, AZ and you never see this kind of landscape. It's unique here but not that traditional beauty of New England. I bet it looks wonderful there summer or winter, how could it not. Do you all like living in these little towns? Are they good places to raise a family?
Thanks again.

Most of the very small towns will have older populations. This is fairly typical. The medium sized towns between 20,000-75,000 people have a more diversity in overall employment. Some towns that would fit the bill include:
Portland, ME
Bangor, ME
Manchester, NH
Concord, NH
Burlington, VT
Also, these small cities have many smaller communities surrounding them that are quite pleasant.

Bee-yootiful pic's. New England is a lovely part of the country. We lived in CT for fourteen years. Unfortunately, those winters are long, cold, long, dark and very long. Too much for this relocated ex-Nutmegger!
