Since bowling tends to be a city or town activity, I have wondered how many bowling centers are on roads with nothing else. Does anyone know of a place to bowl sitting by itself on a highway outside of town? I remember a few in south Florida growing up, but all have been lost to suburban sprawl.

There's been a bowling alley not quite outside the limits of my town for decades. There also used to be a roller skating rink close to the edge of town but it closed.

What about rural bars that are really out in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road? I know of one near my town. I could hardly believe a bar would want to be so remote. It's called the Spider Dome.

In a small town a bowling alley is just that- an alley where people bowl! They set up "pins" or empty plastic bottles at one end of the alley and people at the other end roll a ball at them!

We have a boowling alley/bar in the country called Hollywood Bowl (it is in Hollywood Township) about 4 miles north of New Germany, Mn. As far as I know, business there has remained good, although I think it is only open on weekends, I could be wrong about that.

Before my buddies and I were married, several of our girlfriends formed a ladies bowling team and their league play was right after our men's league on Tuesday nights.

They couldn't think of a team name, so we helped them out. To their surprise, they became known as "The Gutter Queens".
