At the tender age of 24, she won Arthur Godfrey's talent Scouts with 'Walkin' After Midnight'. She is one of the few country singers who are accepted by non-country music fans. One of the best female singers in the history of Popular Music. Patsy Cline tragically died in a plane crash in the hills near Camden, TN.
Ava Gardner (Grabtown, North Carolina)
Considered one of the most beautiful women on screen, Ava quickly went from rural poverty to one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Despite quips about her acting ability, she was a fine actress, but limited success in movies kept her from furthering her success. Her best films are The Killers, Night Of the Iguana, and Showboat.
