I know its not on the list, but there is a very cute town in Ohio. Actually 2. Bellville is one, its right on the river and very cute. Great schools too. They have a parade through main street for like every month. Ever see Gilmore Girls? If so, Bellville is a real Stars Hollow. About 45 mins south of there is Mt Vernon. Also very nice small town with a town square and everything. We would live there but my husband is a carpenter and work there in that occupation is very bad.
What are you looking for in a "small" town, how small? We have them in all sizes in Minnesota. Each one a little different from the next one. Some larger and some really small ones. What sort of place is it you wish to find?
I lived in Laramie, WY, two different times, and I loved it. If jobs or dating are not important to you, then I would say that Laramie is one of best places to live anywhere. It is easy to get around--you can walk or ride a bike from end to end, there is a University there, great little diners and restaurants, close to Northern Colorado for shopping, easy and scenic drive over to Cheyenne, no better climate in the summer. The winters are cold, but I like that better than heat.
