Default Best Suburbs For Young People in Sac?

Hi Everyone!! I was just wondering about the suburbs of Sacramento. Which would be the most suitable for say, a young couple with no children?? A nice safe place to live that also has a younger crowd and fun things happening?? Just please don't say Davis--- I don't want to live in a college town. But yeah, any info would help me greatly. Thanks!!

Any place with a lot of young people and fun things happening is going to have some problems with things like drunkenness and street noise, so that's kind of a tall order. I'd consider the northern and southern portions of Midtown (Boulevard Park/New Era, Poverty Ridge/Newton Booth) to fill the bill--they are close to the heart of Midtown but not so close that you step in it all the dang time. The "thrifty thirties" of East Sacramento, the Alhambra Triangle, and the northern edge of Curtis Park would work as well, because they are all essentially turning into an extension of Midtown as the central city gets filled up.

Wait, huh???

Why the suburbs? Just the name suburbs conjures up pictures of track homes with manicured lawns, and children playing in the street - right?

Is it just a safety concern? I agree with WBurg. If I had no kids (he knows this) I'd be in Midtown in a hot second. And I always lived in the "nice parts"

But of course Curtis Park is very nice too.

WAIT A SECOND - Haven't we been over this before with TigerEyes? I remember a long thread about Midtown already.

PS: Thank you for such a nice post. Without all the smiley faces over and over again, and "text" language. It shows maturity.

if you cant handle midtown living and central city living and do not want a college town, just do folsom. Its a typical suburb. But its got a nice down town, some cool local watering holes and dance stuff, and a light rail to cart you into sac.

As long as you don't mind going home no later than 7:00 PM, when the line to Folsom stops running...or bumming around downtown at a 24 hour restaurant or Safeway from 2 AM when the bars close (admittedly, 4 AM some places) until the trains start running at 6 AM.

Default Burbs in Sac

Elk Grove area is wonderful. Too close to south Sac, which sucks. Depending upon the age of the Young People, you just gotta get them to the best place possible, then rely upon the way they've been raised, the respect them show to other people, places and things. Most importantly the biggest part is up to God. If you've done what you can and should be he will do the rest.
