Default What are the best "hole in the wall" eateries in Sac?

Where are they and what kind of food?

Two of my favorites in Sac are Zelda's pizza ( horrible service but good pie!) and Nationwide Meats - Great steak sandwich!

We always enjoyed Jalisco's Taqueria on 16th at about B or C. By the way, Zelda's is on 21st around L and Nationwide is at about 20th and H. For a great breakfast burrito there's Jalapeno's, also on 21st. For great chili rellenos try the 524 Restaurant at 524 12th Street. Used to bring them home for Sunday brunch. For decent dim sum there's Capitol Tea Garden at 1110 T Street. Great for Sunday after going to the farmer's market. Wonderful Italian deli sandwiches, and more, at Sampino's, 16th and F. Going from memory here. It's been awhile!

Here's couple I used to frequent often.

The Sub Shack on Folsom Blvd.-but it's now called "The Shack"
Welcome to The Shack!

Cookie's Drive In- 5640 H St. Burgers and shakes

There's also Island Tacos on the corner of 51st & Folsom-it helps if you know any Spanish-great food
There's also Los Jarritos on 2509 Broadway- excellent salsa bar

There used to be a great Greek place where the old Dairy Queen used to be on Folsom & Elvas, but just recently closed-bummer

Never much cared for Zelda's, not a big fan of the pizza there. Steak sandwich at Jamie's on Broadway is legit. Al the Wop's in Walnut Grove if you want to take a little drive. Sandra Dee's for BBQ.
