You're welcome. I've lived in Shingle Springs for 8 years now, originally from Southern California....but this is definitely home for us.

I have never 'blogged' before - I hope I do it right. My husband and I are seniors looking to the pollock pines area to check out for a possible relocation from so. cal. We would like to rent a furnished apt. or house for about a year to see if we like it, and then consider purchasing. Can any of you recommend how we can find out about furnished rentals in that area? I'd appreciate any info. Thanks. Ojaiquilter

Hi ojaiquilter, yes, you did post to the forum just right! I spent many happy years visiting Ojai from my former hometown of Simi Valley...tell me, is the bookstore in the house with the tree in the middle still there? I loved that place!

Pollock Pines is lovely, have you visited? You do know that you are above the snowline and will be needing to shovel/blow snow in the winter, right? Although the summer is your reward, because it is much cooler up at that elevation than even in Cameron Park.

You might want to check with some property management companies in the area...I don't know any, personally, but you might google something like Pollock Pines furnished rental. You can also try the Mountain Democrat newspaper (mtndemocrat.com) or we have a pennysaver-like free unclassified called The Gold Panner, out of Placerville, they might be online.

Pollock Pines has a part of town that is not-so-great...just like anyplace else. Just be aware of that when you start looking.

Good luck and ask questions if you have any. You can always privately email me (PM me) if you'd like to know anything in particular, by clicking on my name.

WOW! Fantastic, constructive posts, particularly justducky2, well done!

As an "aussie" visiting from abroad i was lucky enough to spend a few days in the area (stayed at Folsom and Placerville) and i gotta tell ya what a gem of an area it is.

It is everything you hope to find in Ca but are so often dissapointed not to.

The people and places are great, scenery excellent, and the family owned wineries a treat.

I know that i have no credibility to judge a locality over there as i'm just a tourist, but after visiting Ca 5 times over the years and spending a sizable chunk of time in the state, it was refreshing to finally come across a region which you just get a good feeling about.

I would move there in a heartbeat if i were you guys.

Good luck to all
