Default Is Barrett Hills in Carmichael Safe?

I'm getting divorced and planning to move from Woodland to Sacramento to be closer to work. My daughter will attend Sac State next fall as well. It will just be the two of us, so I'm very concerned about living in a safe, quiet neighborhood. My realtor is showing me homes in Carmichael and Fair Oaks. What do you think of the Barrett Hills area in Carmichael? It's bordered by Manzanita on the west, Winding Way on the north, Lincoln Ave on the south, and Barrett on the east. Found a couple homes there within my price range and fairly nice, but I don't know about the area. Any other suggestions about where to look? I can spend about $350,000 although I'd like to stay at or under $300,000. Thanks in advance for your help!

Meh, not the best area of Carmichael. Not unsafe, but its boxed in by heavy commute routes. There's better areas to look at.

Just found this today. We live near Carmichael Park, houses tend to sell around 200-290K, very safe and quiet and the American River is close enough to bicycle to. I'd recommend it much more than anything along Madison Ave or Manzanita. Good luck!

What relevance does that have to your question?
