Pretty good, reasonably priced and good selection of dim sum. Sundy brunch to take home after the farmers market when we didn't pick up chili rellenos at the 524!

For me, "hole-in-the-wall" is high praise, I like Capitol Tea garden a lot. If La Bonne Soupe qualifies (M. Pont is Zagat-rated and a trained Cordon Bleu chef, but it's a tiny one-man operation that only serves soup and sandwiches, just the best soup and sandwiches EVER MADE.) The Asian market/to-go eatery around the corner definitely qualifies for the moniker, they do a delicious lunch combo.

Hm, what else...Fanny Ann's in Old Sac, Sim's Diner and Hong Kong Cafe on Broadway, the Weinery, Bonn Lair and the Pasty Shack in East Sac, Lalo's in the southern Curtis Park area (your tongue will write you a thank you note after you eat there), Mati's Indian restaurant (previously in Natomas, now about to open in Midtown), El Tigre del Taco taco truck in front of Thrift Town in Old North Sac/Del Paso Heights...

I haven't tried Jim-Denny's but I like 524 up the road from Jim-Denny's.

The Rice Bowl on Florin Rd. Not exactly hole in the wall but it's in the same parking lot as a run-down Bingo Hall and across from the Welfare office. The dim sum is great and the food is delish.
