I have been receiving California unemployment benefits for a while now and have had a couple of tempoary "commission only" sales jobs. During this time, I did not report these commissions to EDD as I had previously done so and my claim got totally messed up. An EDD representative all but told me to not provide this info, as they do not have a program to accomodate commission only sales people.

The question is: Does EDD know about these jobs- or have they received reports from those employers? I now have a telephone interview coming up next week.

I'm not crazy about providing less than accurate info to EDD, but like many, I do need the benefits of unemployment insurance to continue.

Thanks to anyone who has a thought on this.

The EDD finds out about wages when the employer files their DE6, which is done quarterly. This report lists gross wages and taxes withheld for the quarter. So unless you received the pay this past January, the EDD will have received the information.

However, this doesn't necessarily mean you are no longer eligible for UI. They will determine when the wages were earned, and you would be ineligible for that week.
