The property taxes are mediocre anyways! When you have 30 illegal immigrants living in an area that is assigned for a single flat rate . This seems a bit unfair . Why should joe six pack pay the same property taxes for his family one 4 as a house down the street that has the same fixed property tax with 40 illegals living in the house!
The border states are all the fastest growing states with or with out immigration , Add illegals ! All of the border states will crash and burn . In 10 years the border areas will probably look worse than mexico! Thanks too the soo called good enviroment , people move from the north too the south west like it was another gold rush ! Like i said the more people move into an area the more resources they need for taxes!

I just starting using this laptop 2 days ago . After about 7 years of using the same bulky keyboard . My fingers are not used too it yet . Now i am typing things as i am going and thinking while i am typing , I am also drunk , Dehydrated and over heated . I am also going back and re adding things to my post as i am thinking about them . However, your views might be more appropriate in the political forum where you can challenge, and be challenged, by individuals that are a bit more savvy on social and political issues than here in the city forums.

I wasn't planning on having a political discusion intill booker one basically challenged me .I don't back down lol

But i do guess cities and politics in reality are one leap apart. A culture with in the city affects the politicians , and politics of an area , and the politics and politicians affect the city . America is nothing more than many towns and cities strung together . Soo it does seem politics and political problems do start in cities , but will become a national problem as well .But none the less i do feel many people on city data are more political savy than the general population . I love city data . I have been obsessed with this site for many many years . Only recently have i gotten into the forums .

But the only reason a person like me from new york is on this thread , is because i am thinking about moving too california . But with this thread i am reconsidering . New york has a very similar problem we are losing flocks of people as well due too the high cost of living . That is probably one of the biggest reasons i want too leave new york .

New york and north dakota are the only two states with a loss in population!

- I think the new york problem is actually worse than californias . New york has one of the highest levels of immigration in the nation ! Yet new york has a decreasing population! soo it does seem new yorks problem may indeed be worse than california .

YES. We think about it a lot. We are a young family, and my husband makes great money...and we STILL can't afford a home in a good place to raise our kids. I would have to go back to work. I don't understand how anyone can do it, and it makes me wonder how many people are living in debt.
It makes me sad too, because we were born here. Our family is here. But jeesh! We are educated, smart people, and we feel like we just can't get ahead! Ever. Just getting by, and renting. I think people here get used to it, and don't realize it can be different. My best friend and her husband moved some years ago to Texas after he lost his job, and she hated the idea...Now she says it is the best thing they ever could have done. And my brother moved to South Carolina, and says the same thing.
People DO live outside of California. And they do it well...
We are thinking of Portland, for the husbands job. I only worry about the weather making me sad. But then, struggling here makes me sad, too. lol
