I'm ready for some sunshine and heat. It's been a long, rainy winter.

Mid to late July the real heat starts. Mostly over 60 days later.

Bring it on baby let it sizzle and cook. Time for some camping fishing boating BBQ drinking shooting and fireworks. BRING ON THE SUMMER!!!

BUT, unlike places like Vegas or Phoenix, by 9 pm in the summer, it's ALWAYS pleasant and down into the 70's, usually with a nice breeze. Try Vegas at 11 p.m. in midsummer: still 95+ degrees.

What do you define as hot?

Average highs for April start at 68F and end at 74F. Record high of 98F
May from 74F to 82. Record high of 107F
June from 82F to 90F, Record high of 112F

July peaks with an average high of 93 at the end of the month. August is about the same as July. By the end of September the average high is 83F.

Most years only see a few hot days through June. Local weather lore states the first heat wave will come around the 4th of July. Oddly, it appears to be true.

The important thing to remember is it can be very different from year to year. I don't think we reached 105F last summer and we only average 5 days a year over 105F. I can't remember what the statistic for days over 110F or higher is, but it is something like 1 day every four years. If you are wondering, we average 22 days over 100 and 84 days over 90F.

Ya, the last few summers have been somewhat mild....hopefully there won't be too many 100*+ consecutive days- that gets old, especially when we had rolling blackouts/brownouts, that sucked.

Two words-Delta Breeze, you'll be praying for it.

One last thing, don't let the rivers fool you and never try to swim across, there's always a rash a of drownings once the weather gets nice. Especially with all the soon to be melting snow pack-certain death awaits the foolish.
Be safe and wear a PFD

OK Vegas Boy Guess when I plan my yearly trips to Vegas. Early August. Nothing better than drinking an iced Americano cruisin the strip and casinos in 115 degree heat.

Then swimming into the wee hours of the morning before hitting the Red eye specials and slamming down $1000 at the ten dollar blackjack tables at 3:00am when no one is around.

Then getting a couple hours sleep and hitting an 11:00am tee time when the real men play golf. BOOYA!!!

Then heading over to the gun shop and blasting off a few thousand rounds with a machine gun. All the while my honey pot is getting massaged, pampered and ready for some action when big daddy bulldog gets back to blast off a few rounds of his own.

Sleep for a few hours get up and do it all over again.

Already made my reservations for our one bedroom suite at the South Point for early August.
