The main olive growing area here is in Glenn, Tehama and Butte counties. There are large areas in these counties with really good micro-climates. Bell Olive is located in Corning and the town has an Olive Festival that last weekend in August. I went up there one year and it was really cool. A lot of different olives and olive products.

Bell-Carter Foods

Corning Olive Festival

And a store up there that sells olives and olive online online. You can also visit the store.
The Olive Pit

And another store
Corning Olive Oil

Olives do well throughout most of the area, but production is quite frequently limited to areas where Portuguese, Spaniards, Greeks or Italians settle. Lodi, for example, had a fair amount of Portuguese and Italians in that area, thus the numerous olive oil companies.

The best olive oil in CA (and probably in the US) is Email: info@ApolloOliveOil.com
Phone: (877) 776-0703
Mail: Apollo Olive Oil
P.O.Box: 1054
Oregon House, CA 95962

I love their olive oil. They make their olive oil in a special machine that presses using a vacuum.
Check this out:

"After more than a decade of scientific research into the components of top quality Extra Virgin olive oils, and the factors influencing quality olive oil extraction, Dr. Mugelli invented and designed a method of milling under vacuum, which dramatically improves the extraction of polyphenols and provides much more quality control over the entire milling process. This new technology can produce excellent Extra Virgin olive oil with roughly triple the amounts of polyphenols, compared to conventional milling technologies. Only five such vacuum mills exist in the world, and Apollo Olive Oil was privileged to obtain one in 2005."

Only one in the United States exists. And they have it.
I used to only get specialty imported olive oil from Italy. Never considered buying CA olive oil until I tasted this stuff.

They seem really nice, too. Small company making great products. I met them at a tasting a couple of years ago.
