What a horrendously written title. LOL.

Johnson told owners that his priority was to keep the team in Sacramento, California’s capital, as the city works to build a new entertainment complex. A group led by Pittsburgh Penguins billionaire co-owner Ron Burkle is willing to buy the Kings or take over a new franchise in Sacramento at a later date, Johnson said afterward.

“We felt very strongly that the Sacramento Kings were worth fighting for,” Johnson said today at a news conference. “If anybody thinks that we’re going to sit on our hands and roll over and just let somebody leave town without putting up a good fight, they’d be gravely mistaken.”

Burkle’s group wants to keep a franchise in Sacramento, Johnson said.

Possible news here:

It appears Anaheim and the city-owned Honda Center have been left at the altar again.

Despite months of negotiations with Anaheim arena officials that pushed the Sacramento Kings to the brink of relocating in Anaheim, the Maloof family has at least temporarily abandoned its plans to move to Orange County because of opposition to the move by the NBA

That's good news for the people of Sacramento. Three NBA teams would be too many for the LA/OC area anyway.

What should really happen is that the Clippers should move to Anaheim. But their owner (Sterling) is dumb so they probably won't.

This is likely why the NBA put an end to this silliness. As far as the Clippers, Sterling wants the L.A. market. Maybe the rent is just better at Staples Center than at the Pond?

I can't blame the Maloofs for wanting to get out of Sacramento however. I'm not sure why there is a pro sports team there in the first place. They should have tried relocating to San Diego.
