So.. does the "midwest" have a trashy home police squad? They drop in and remove all old tires, trash & cars from everyone's home?
The "midwest" has its share of run-down, unkempt areas just as Cali does, to make a sweeping generalization that you won't find...etc in the midwest is a totally inaccurate statement.

All cities of any size have some less desirable areas with high crime rates. All cities face problems with trying to minimize poverty and crime, especially things of a physical or property nature. Anyone who doesn't understand this probably shouldn't be posting comments or observations on adult forums.
well said!!!!!!! GHETTO IS A STATE OF MIND!

Also, they have not participated in the discussion at all since the original posting.

Rather than demean each other in a pointless debate, I vote we let the issue die an appropriate death.
Yeah "ghetto" is a buzz word for discussing racism by proxy in my opinion!.

Unsure how you could consider a dead crypt territory, the ghetto. 5 years before the crypt leader was killed, there wasn't much activity in Sacramento. After he was killed, nothing changed.

I used to live Sacramento for few years. I would say to about that... Yes and No. Yes, Its only bad crime. i can't imagined about "Sacramento is BAD BAD BAD". I do believe what did everyone said bad something about it. You can better imagined about west of sac, southeast of sac nearby elk grove, or elk grove. Once, it has never happened to you. Only you can avoid only night in south, mid downtown, north and east of Sacramento. My friends are gangsta. :-\

IMHO Sac IS ghetto. I work all over the city/ and county. Not to say all of the city is, but yeah I think so.

Who doesn't have 18' plus rims on their ride? Who doesn't have 10,000 watt 18" subwoofers in the ride and turn up the bass to prove it?
Who doesn't look the part and act the part?

Just what I see a lot of. Not everyone. Yet enough of to call Sac ghetto.

Isn't Sacramento the birthplace of Casey Serin and his real estate flipping empire?

Looks like Sacramento isn't the birthplace of that cat.

It's funny how subjective the term "ghetto" is. I grew up in San Jose, which as many know, has a lot of "ghetto" areas. I lived in a few places that bordered the East Side, which was well known for gang activity. I grew up in a lower middle-middle class home. I've been in and around the "ghetto" for a good 10 years of my young adult life.

One person's idea of ghetto is not the standard. When I think of ghetto, I think of chain link fenced front yards, cars parked on lawns, gangster looking teenagers and young adults (of any and all ethnicities) hanging out in their driveways drinking and being loud with little regard for their neighbors, little if any pride of ownership in residential areas, run-down shopping and dining areas, tagging on walls and fences, neighborhoods with a large number of garages converted to living quarters, neighborhood streets overcrowded with cars due to multiple families living in one home, high crime rates, booming car stereos at almost every intersection, neighborhoods where I wouldn't want my wife walking to the grocery store in the late evening by herself, etc.

Maybe when people give their opinions on areas they should explain what they picture when they think ghetto. It might help give you a better idea of who you should take advice from.

According to Wikipedia, Casey Serin's (of iamfacingforecloser.com in-fame) birthplace was Tashkent, Uzbekistan. But yes, he did live here--Sacramento has a long and storied history of real estate scammers, dating back to the Gold Rush. He's just among the latest wave.
